Today's Breaktime...The Place for Guilt

The Place for Guilt

”Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.” Psalm 32:5

Finally, David realized the gift God was trying to hand Him, and he received it. He awoke from his guilt and started taking responsibility for his sin. He no longer denied its existence in his life nor tried to bury the pain, because his heart dug deep into the hidden places and exposed the sin.

The sin God forgives is the sin we confess, so if we continue in denial we only experience the thought of the promise without walking in its reality. We may even think about what forgiveness would feel like, but we never experience the joys of it in our lives. We may also talk about confessing without participating in its true peace.

Taking responsibility or admitting our fault is the most significant step towards the conscience being cleansed. There are many things we can do to ease the conscience: deny, medicate, numb, blame, ignore, justify, or even resolve it by convincing ourselves our act is not really sin. If everyone else is doing it how can it be so bad? But when guilt begins to enter our mind, let's take responsibility for it, because it is indeed a gift. Let’s admit its sincerity and agree, and let’s no longer deny the power of forgiveness. Let us receive its gift and find peace and life returning in abundance. There is no other place to go other than to God, and He has been waiting for us.

Today in the workplace:

Are you ready to take responsibility? God is near.

Admiration
You who fear the Lord, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!  Psalm 22:23

There are many things in this world we can admire. There are many famous people we may stargaze over because of all the abilities they have been given. We may soon be finding ourselves praising them and honoring them to the place they get all of our attention. We see them behind the TV screen which grasps a lot of our daily attention. We would instead praise the celebrity or athlete behind the screen than the One who is truly worthy.
