You will increase my honor and comfort me once more. Psalm 71:21
The Psalmist found God increasing in his life during hardships. He found that it could only be through troubles that caused the increase. He learned through pain, the antidote is God, and waiting on Him was the most resourceful cure.
Often through hardships is when we experience the valley of death. Life doesn't seem vibrant anymore, and it is close to losing its purpose. Life has difficulties, and we try hard to go around or numb them, but in reality, they are there. No one is exempt.
But what the Psalmist found was an increase in his life. What? Increase? Do we ever think that the troubles of this life are going to cause an increase? Don't they usually take and don't give back? But God will increase His presence in us to the place where we understand the comfort we need in Him. The honor we need is Him in our life. We find Him in our pain, and He does the increase. He reveals Himself amid all our miseries.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
