God Using YOU

May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor. Psalm 71:4

The Psalmist is crying out for the Lord to defend those who are needy and afflicted. Much of the affliction was coming for those who oppress the weak. Some take pride in overcoming those who appear more vulnerable than they do, but they fail to realize that God's eyes are open to their cause.

And God's cause is quite contrary to the oppressor. God uplifts those who are being held down. He is there to defend those who are being taken advantage of by the proud.

There could be a cause God is inviting us into. One for sure is our heart to the afflicted among us. Have we closed our eyes to see the more vulnerable around us? When we have resources to help our neighbors and keep our hands folded, we ignore the needy. Jesus knows our hearts and invites us into serving others every day. God has blessed us, and now it's our time to give back, or like the rich young ruler, this message is causing you to grieve?

Mark 10:21-22

Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, 'You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.' When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.
