Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. Psalm 62:9

The lowborn translated means those who are blown about by every wind of the sea. They may call out to God today but curse him tomorrow. They easily cling to the good God provides but curses when life brings sorrow. The highborn translated mean those of high estate, those who are exalted in the eyes of men. David learned that when essential matters come in life, not to place his trust in men. Highborn men make a promise but not deliver and disappoint us. Lowborn will seek themselves above all.

Our hope and trust begin with God. Our confidence and trust for today begin with God. When we place our hope in men, we may live frustrated and disappointed. Haven't we all experienced the failures of man? Or maybe we have been a disappointment to others? Instead, let us trust in God first; let us place our confidence in God.

David found that trusting in men first led him to disappointment. But when we believe in God first, we know His Word will always be true. That doesn’t mean we don’t trust men, but we are cautious of placing your ultimate faith and confidence in man. God is always true to His promises - start there.
